Dad is back on the rehab floor now. He actually returned on Saturday but had limited mobility until Tuesday because of back pain. He did great today in his physical therapy so it looks like adjustments made to pain medicines are working. He is substantially weaker than he was a week ago at this time so they are moving his target release date back to August 28. This gives Dad more time to get stronger and us more time to get the house ready.
Today our bathroom on the main floor was gutted. We are following universal design principals to make the bathroom handicap accessible without looking like that is its primary function. Friends at church recommended a contractor that is doing an incredible job. He previously redesigned his mother-in-law’s home for wheelchair accessibility. When finished the bathroom will have a walk-in (or drive-in) shower, grab bars in appropriate locations, and 31 inches of clearance throughout. Previously we had several places where there was a maximum of 19 inches of clearance. Our external project is going slower but that is by design as all contractors we consulted with recommended getting a landscape architect involved so that we could made sure that sewer pipe, power, and drainage issues were appropriately addressed.
Katy is fully recovered from her illness. She and Luke are getting excited as they will go with Michelle to visit Grandma Rita and Grandpa Mike in about a week.
All for now, thanks for the prayers.
