In Florida, virtual school could make classrooms history — OrlandoSentinel.com
More and more states are expanding K-12 online school options. Choice is good but is this a good choice? Florida will require all districts to provide online learning options for their students. This could be disastrous if course developers and teachers aren’t familiar with distance education research and best practices.
Hopefully, the state will require districts to follow a process for developing/selecting online courses similar to the Quality Matters practice developed at the University of Maryland. I like the idea of choice but only if the result is high quality learning options for kids.
